Welcome to another Knowledge Nugget presented by CORTEX. Today we'll shift our focus to the METRONIK device, a blood pressure monitor, which is the latest entry into the CORTEX portfolio. The content of the video includes details of the device specifications and the benefits of using the monitoring system.

The METRONIK system is used by those with high demands concerning resting and stress blood pressure measurements on bicycles, treadmills, recumbent ergometers and more. It can be used as a standalone device, and it provides the user with automatic interval measurements and printable stored values. With the CORTEX software, the user can very easily take control of the METRONIK device and display the blood pressure values on the CORTEX interface.

The METRONIK monitor is an alternative option for measuring blood pressure by listening to the naturally sounding feedback of the Korotkoff sounds, just as reliable and audible as with a stethoscope. The device comes with a smooth, adjustable arm cuff. Also included with the purchase of the device is a tool that helps the user quickly change the cover of the cuff in case of replacement or cleaning.

As mentioned earlier, the METRONIK monitor can be completely integrated with stress measurement systems. The device is able to listen to and record the auscultation sounds via a microphone implemented in the arm cuff. It is the ideal measuring method for all stethoscopic enthusiasts. The adjustable arm cuff ensures the validity of the measurement by simply adjusting the cuff to the shape and size of the arm. The quick measuring time is an outcome of the fast inflation time of the cuff, which is normally under 5 seconds. Moreover, with the METRONIK device the user has the option to use an ECG trigger or not activate it at all. And lastly, depending on the measurement conditions, whether that is on an ergometer, a treadmill or at rest, the user is able to apply the appropriate filtering for more precise results.

When considering the portability of the device: due to its small size, it can be placed next to other devices or anywhere on the medical cart that is convenient to use.

To summarize, the METRONIK device can record the auscultation sounds of the body with the help of a microphone cuff based on the Korotkoff method. It can either be used as a standalone device or be integrated into a CPET stress system. And lastly, different filtering processes are possible for greater precision of the values. Thank you for watching.

Additions in [square brackets] are editorial. CPET and spirometry support clinical judgment; they do not replace it.
