Performance Diagnostics for Longevity

Anyone who wants to stay capable for decades needs measured values instead of assumptions. With V̇O₂max and resting metabolic rate, CPET measures two figures that training and everyday life can be aligned to for the long term.

    V̇O₂max as a long-term marker

    Maximum oxygen uptake describes how breathing, circulation and muscles work together. The measured value serves as a reference that training can be aligned to over years.

    Resting metabolic rate and substrate utilization

    The measured resting metabolic rate replaces formula values. Substrate utilization shows at which intensity the share of fat in energy expenditure is highest.

    Training zones from thresholds

    VT1 and VT2 divide exercise into individual zones. The zones thus match the measured metabolism rather than a rule of thumb.

    Trends over years

    Repeated measurements with the same methodology make changes visible and keep training guidance up to date.

Resting metabolic rate
Energy expenditure at physical rest, measured via breath gas analysis with a mask.
RQ
Respiratory quotient at rest: ratio of CO₂ output to oxygen uptake.
Energy expenditure
Energy expenditure calculated from oxygen uptake and CO₂ output.
Substrate utilization
Share of carbohydrates and fats in energy expenditure, calculated from the respiratory quotient.
V̇O₂max
Maximum oxygen uptake: uptake reaches a plateau even as the load continues to rise.
VT1
First ventilatory threshold: from this point, CO₂ output rises disproportionately to oxygen uptake.
VT2
Second ventilatory threshold: from this point, minute ventilation rises disproportionately to CO₂ output.
