Performance
In elite sports, the right intensity at the right time decides. CPET shows where the individual thresholds lie and whether the last training block did what it was supposed to. Measurement happens in the lab and wherever the sport takes place.
The breath gas analysis determines VT1 and VT2 and divides exercise into zones that match the athlete's measured metabolism instead of a percentage formula based on heart rate. Base training stays base training, even when daily form fluctuates.
Repeated measurements with the same methodology show whether oxygen uptake and thresholds have shifted. Coaches plan the next block based on measured change rather than impressions.
Lab values do not transfer one to one into the boat, onto the track or up the mountain. In a field test, the athlete wears the measurement system on the body without cables, telemetry transmits the values over more than 1,000 m, and the measurement works in cold, in heat or at altitude.
Lab and field measurements are taken with the same methodology and end up in the same evaluation. Results from the field can be compared directly with lab values, and over the season this grows into one continuous dataset.
