METAMAX® 3B
Portable. Wearable. Wireless.
Portable CPET system: flexible to use in the lab and in the field.
Mobile CPET in diagnostic quality: the METAMAX® 3B measures Breath-by-Breath wherever you test, in the lab or out in the field.
The complete measurement system weighs 580 grams, is worn on the body, and runs wirelessly on battery power. The METAMAX® 3B transmits every measurement telemetrically over more than 1,000 meters or stores it autonomously on board. Its range of applications extends from cardiac rehabilitation to the ISS.
Highlights
Mobile CPET without compromise.
Where standard diagnostics can't go.
The METAMAX® 3B measures under conditions laboratory systems were never built for. In the water, under respiratory protection, under specialized equipment.

occupational medicineExercise testing under real conditions: the METAMAX® 3B captures the combined influence of heat, stress, respiratory protection, and heavy equipment directly during operational training.

MetaSoft® Studio
Reliably connected
An examination runs only as smoothly as the software behind it. MetaSoft® Studio controls the entire test workflow, from load protocol to connected devices to test report.
Every measurement is preserved as a raw data set and remains traceable. You focus on the examination while the technology works in the background.
Whether in the lab, in the practice, or in the field: it is the same software with the same workflow, and all results land in the same evaluation.

Missions
On a space mission
In the summer of 2018, German astronaut Dr. Alexander Gerst set out on a research mission aboard the ISS. On board for the first time was a mobile CPET device, our METAMAX® 3B. During his stay on the space station, Alexander Gerst used it several times to test his health status and fitness.

FAQ
How far does the wireless transmission really reach?
The bidirectional Long Range Bluetooth® receiver is designed for ranges of more than 1,000 meters. In practice, the effective range depends on line of sight and surroundings. The METAMAX® 3B can also store measurement data in its internal data logger, independently of the PC. After the test, the data is transferred to the PC via Bluetooth® and evaluated in MetaSoft® Studio.
How often does the system need to be calibrated?
The gas sensors are adjusted once a month by two-point calibration with ambient air and calibration gas, and the gas-on-demand valve doses the calibration gas automatically. You calibrate the reusable turbine daily or before each test, while disposable turbines are factory-calibrated. Air pressure calibration is only scheduled every six months. The device warm-up time is 30 minutes.
Can the METAMAX® 3B also be used in stationary mode?
Yes. With the optional Stationary Kit, the mobile analyzer becomes a laboratory workstation with an external power supply and an extended sample line. One device, two fields of application.
Can I connect the METAMAX® 3B to an ECG?
Yes. Via MetaSoft® Studio, the METAMAX® 3B connects to 14 ECG systems, including GE CardioSoft, Schiller, and Spacelabs Healthcare. You can find the complete list on the METALYZER® 3B page.
